September 8 takes us into the month of Metal Rooster. We are now in the middle of autumn in the Chinese calendar.

The Metal Rooster brings a much-needed feminine energy into what’s been a very masculine year of the Yang Earth Dog. We’re in for a social month as the Rooster is also a “Peach Blossom” (a star of romance) in Chinese Astrology. Yin Metal, associated with planet Venus and the color gold, is also the element of beauty and glamour.

Underneath the beautiful surface, however, is fierceness and boldness. Think of the qualities of Yin Metal – it’s shiny and gorgeous but also cold and sharp. People born on a Yin Metal day are usually extraordinarily beautiful and charming but they’re definitely not afraid to speak their mind. This is the month to think twice before you speak. Self awareness is key as Yin Metal reflects both light and shadow like a mirror.

Metal also dominates the month’s Feng Shui chart, with Yin Metal star 7 (trigram “Dui” in I-Ching) in the center. Keep the center sector of your home quiet this month as the 7 can bring robbery, fire, and bleeding when activated.

In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the year of the Dog while the numbers in blue refer to September’s monthly stars.

The most auspicious sectors in September are Southwest, Southeast and Northwest. Use these sectors more often in your home to activate the positive energies. Even more auspicious is if your Southeast sector has permanent star 1 or if your Northwest sector has permanent star 6 as these sectors will be blessed with the heavenly combination of stars 1, 6, 8 in September. *Ideally, you should have your home assessed by a professional Feng Shui consultant before activating any sector as you may unintentionally activate sectors affected by negative natal / permanent stars.

Other areas to keep quiet this month besides the center are East, South, and North (which is the year’s most sensitive sector). These areas are affected by monthly or annual stars 2 or 5, which are Earth element energies that may be reduced with Metal cures. *Note that although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you do not know your home’s natal energies.
