Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology Update: October 2021

October 8th takes us into the month of the Earth Dog. Autumn may have just begun in the Northern Hemisphere, but we’re already in the last month of fall in the Chinese solar calendar. In the Feng Shui Flying Star chart, the monthly stars mirror the annual stars, doubling the influences of the annual star 6 in the center.

The Dog, as one of the four Earth signs in Chinese Astrology, helps us transition from fall to winter. Associated with Saturn, Earth is the element that keeps us centered and anchored. With double Yang Earth (hard Earth) in the month’s heavenly frequency and the earthly stem, this is a month to remind yourself to remain calm and steady as a mountain, even in the most stressful situations, for hidden inside the Dog is unpredictable Yin Fire element. Take a deep breath before you react. Yang Earth can also represent blockages – look for creative solutions or change your direction to get around a blockage instead of letting it stop you in your path.
Signs that have affinities with the Dog are secret friend the Rabbit and allies the Tiger and the Horse. Those with these signs in their chart can generally expect a collaborative month ahead, with support from their personal and professional networks.
If you were born on a Wood element day, this month’s strong Earth influence brings financial opportunities as Earth is your money element. Identify those opportunities and take action to maximize your gains. Those born on a Water element day may feel overwhelmed at work as Earth represents the powers that be in their charts. If you were born on a Fire day, this is a busy, productive month for you as Earth is your output element. If Earth is your element, you may find yourself widening your networks and socializing more than usual. Those born on a Metal day may be on a quest to deepen their skills and learn more.
Keep a low profile and protect your boundaries if your chart contains a Dragon, the sign opposite the Dog, or the Sheep (the Goat) as the Ox, the Dog, and the Sheep form an “Earth penalty.” Since we’re in the year of the Ox, take it easy on days of the Sheep, which fall on October 14th and October 26th. Avoid launching major projects or executing important tasks on these days, and keep a high awareness of your surroundings.

OCTOBER 2021 FENG SHUI
In the Flying Star chart for October 2021 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2022), while the numbers in blue refer to October 2021’s monthly stars (good from October 8 to November 6, 2021). As you can see, the monthly stars are duplicates of the annual stars, highlighting the dominating themes of the year.
The various meanings associated with the flying star, its trigram, and its element at the center can provide us with guidance for the specific period. For insights on star 6 in the center, you can refer to my annual Feng Shui outlook for 2021.
The West, 2021’s luckiest sector, is even more vibrant this month with double stars 8 of current prosperity. Other positive sectors are the Northeast, South, and center sectors. Do most of your daily activities here to keep the good energy flowing. The East sector is ideal for studies, reading, and writing.
The Southeast sector, afflicted by the annual and monthly stars 5 of misfortune, and the North sector, visited by stars 2 of illness should be kept quiet. If you can’t avoid them, use them mindfully – no loud noises or banging the doors. Be vigilant if you live in the Southeastern or Northern region of a geographic area (for example, Southeast Asia or Northern California).
*Contact me here if you’d like to identify and activate the auspicious sectors in your living or office space and subdue the influences of inauspicious stars to help optimize your family’s well-being. I also recommend getting a strategic life reading, which provides you with a blueprint for manifesting your highest potentials.
**If you have had a Feng Shui assessment done, consider getting an annual update as the annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies brings full awareness of how your immediate environment can positively influence your life.
