Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology: April 2022

April 5th takes us into the month of the Wood Dragon, the last month of spring in the Chinese solar calendar. We’re now in the third month of the Water Tiger year. In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart, monthly star 9 of future prosperity takes center stage, strengthening the influences of the annual star 5.

From April 5th to May 4th, pay attention to what happens in your personal life and the world in general, as both the elements and the monthly flying star / trigram of the month may offer us a preview to 2024, the year of the Wood Dragon, which is also the year our earthly realm enters the Age of 9, a 20-year period ruled by the Fire trigram.
This month, Yang Wood in the heavenly stem highlights themes of growth and expansion, in sync with the energy of spring. Yang Wood is also associated with benevolence, leadership, and compassion. Letting go of self-limiting beliefs and opening the heart to compassion and joy are keys to growth in the month ahead.
The Dragon, one of the four Earth signs in Chinese Astrology, is the in-between sign that transitions us from spring to summer, from Wood to Fire. The Dragon helps transform any growing pains we may have experienced at the beginning of the year into joy when summer arrives.
Signs that have affinities with the Dragon are secret friend the Rooster and allies the Rat and the Monkey. Those with these signs in their chart can expect a more collaborative month ahead, with support from friends and family (though keep in mind that other signs in the natal chart may contribute to a more challenging month.)
Those born in the year of the Dog, the sign opposite the Dragon, would be wise to take extra caution and avoid risky ventures this month. If you have a Dragon in your chart, April is a month to be conscious of self-sabotaging behaviors.
April 2022 Feng Shui
In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart for April 2022 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2023), while the numbers in blue refer to April’s monthly stars (good from April 5th to May 4th, 2022).
The flying star number in the center of the chart, whether it’s an annual or monthly number, and the associated trigram can give us hints of the general moods and themes of that period. With monthly 9 in the center, we have the Fire trigram, Li, representing light, the heart, the emotion joy, and the middle daughter (or middle-aged women). You may notice more female leaders highlighted in the news, which is a big theme in the upcoming Age of 9 that we’re transitioning into.
In a 9 cycle, it’s critical that we open our heart to love and joy, otherwise fear will overtake us as fear is associated with Water, the element that puts out Fire. Learn how to cultivate inner joy by following what makes your heart sing, especially if you’re finding it hard to tune in to the frequency of joy. I’d written a period 9 article back in 2020 that I’ve been meaning to post, and I will post it soon, stay tuned.
This is a month to focus on the positives! The monthly 9 in the center amplifies the influences of the annual star 5, which returns the flying stars into their original positions. In the earthly realm, the 5 in the center brings opportunities for some of us to shine our brightest light, while for others, circumstances may put them in the darkest of times. Stay positive in all aspects of life to keep your frequency high. Being positive is not spiritual bypassing – it’s part of a growth mindset practice that requires a lot of self-work, which ultimately helps you discover the higher self.
Best sectors of the month are the Southeast, South, Northwest, and Northeast. The annual 4 and monthly star 8 combination in the Southeast and 9/4 in the South make these two sectors ideal for daily activities, especially studying, writing, creative projects, and social activities. The Northwest sector benefits from 1/6 combination, which is great for planning and vision boarding.
Be conscious of your mood when you’re in the Northeast sector. Though blessed with the annual star 8 of prosperity this year, star 3 of arguments flies to the sector this month. Leave the room if you feel anger rising.
Avoid disturbing the center this month. If your center is an open space, keep the sector clean and tidy. For more on star 5, you can review my 2022 Year of the Tiger outlook.
Besides the center, keep the North, Southwest, and West sectors quiet in April. These are the sectors afflicted with either the monthly star 5 of misfortune, the annual star 2 of illness, or the monthly star 2. You can keep doing your work in one of these sectors if it’s your office space, or sleep there if it’s your bedroom, but refrain from spending extra time in the sectors.
Reinforce all doors and windows located in the East, visited by monthly 7 of fire dangers, violence, and robberies, and the West sector, where the annual 7 is.
