Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology Update: September 2022

September 7th takes us into the month of the Earth Rooster, the eighth month of the Water Tiger year. We’re now in the middle of fall in the Chinese solar calendar, with Metal element at its strongest. It’s a relationship oriented month with the Rooster and star 4 of romance in the center of the Feng Shui Flying Star chart.

The month of the Earth Rooster (or more energetically correct, the Bird) offers us a relief after a fast paced, relentless August, 2022’s most challenging month, with the Earth Monkey opposing the Water Tiger year. With Yang now in decline after a heated summer, take in the rising Yin to harmonize with the season: return to yourself and schedule time for self-care and self-reflection. In a Yin month, allow yourself to retreat and receive. As the Bird is a Yin Metal sign associated with beauty, September is a month to bring in more beauty into your life.
The second half of the month marks the arrival of the equinox as we reach the height of autumn, celebrated as the Chinese Mid-Autumn / Mooncake Festival. With Metal element, associated with the lungs, at peak, strengthen the body with heartier foods that are cooked slowly to bring energy up to the surface. Nourish the lungs with a regular Qigong practice or breathing exercises such as pranayama.
Yin Earth on the heavenly stem of the month highlights our connection to nature. Associated with Mother Earth, Yin Earth invites us to be in harmony with the elements. Slow down and find time for stillness so that we can replenish our chi and stay grounded. Staying in the center, where chi is strongest and most stable, keeps us calm and steady.
The Bird is associated with the planet Venus, beauty, gold, and all that glitters. One of the four Peach Blossom stars in Chinese Astrology, the Bird brings social and romantic opportunities to those born in year or day of the Monkey, Rat, and Dragon. Best friend the Dragon and allies the Snake and the Ox can expect a supportive, collaborative month ahead.
The Bird is also a helpful “nobleman star” to those born on a Fire day or Fire years (which are years that end with 6 and 7, such as 1976 or 1987). If the Bird is your nobleman star, September is a good month for personal, medical, or professional consultation as the advice and help you receive will contribute to your healing and growth.
If you have a Bird / Rooster in your chart, this is a month to be conscious of self-sabotaging behaviors. Practice self-forgiveness and be kind to yourself. September may be the most challenging month of the year for those with a Rabbit in their chart as the Rabbit is the sign opposite the Bird. Relationships are usually the most affected – speak your truth from a place of love, and honor the boundaries you set for yourself.
SEPTEMBER 2022 FENG SHUI
In the Flying Star chart for September 2022 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2023), while the numbers in blue refer to September 2022’s monthly stars (good from September 7 to October 7, 2022).
The various meanings associated with the flying star at the center can provide us with guidance and insights for the specific period. September is a relationship and growth oriented month, with monthly star 4 of romance and academic excellence, a Wood element star, in the center. Associated with Xun, the Wind trigram, star 4 is a reminder from the Tao for us to be creative and expansive with our visions.
This month, the most vibrant sectors are the South and North sectors. Monthly star 8 of current prosperity flies to the South to accompany annual star 9 of joy and future prosperity, while monthly star 9 visits the North, amplifying the positive influence of annual star 1 of wisdom and distant prosperity. Do your work or daily activities in these two sectors to activate the positive stars. You may find that you are more productive and result-oriented when you spend more time in these sectors of the house or the office.
Keep the center, East, Southwest, and Northwest sectors quiet in September. These are the sectors visited by the annual or monthly stars 5 of misfortune and stars 2 of illness. Take extra precautions when it comes to your health if your bedroom is located in any of these sectors.
With monthly star 3 of arguments present in the Southeast sector, use it sparingly, and leave the sector if you feel anger or irritability rising. Reinforce all doors and windows located in the West and Northeast, afflicted by the annual and monthly 7, a hostile star associated with robbery and fire dangers.
*Although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to simply avoid using the sector, or keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you’re not familiar with your home’s natal energies as you may accidentally activate a negative natal star. If you do have to spend time in the area, keep your activities there minimal. Common sense also applies: for example, it’s a good idea to have doors and windows reinforced if they’re located in a sector affected by star 7 of robbery.
Contact me here if you’d like to identify and activate the auspicious sectors in your living or office space and subdue the influences of inauspicious stars to help optimize your family’s well-being. I also recommend getting a strategic life reading, which provides you with a blueprint for manifesting your highest potentials.
**If you have had a Feng Shui assessment done, consider getting an annual update as the annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies brings full awareness of how your immediate environment can positively influence your life.
