Feng Shui Update: August 2018

August 7 takes us into the second half of the year of the Earth Dog and the month of the Metal Monkey. It also marks the beginning of autumn in the Chinese calendar, a season ruled by Metal – a reprieve after a particularly heavy first half of the year dominated by strong Earth element.

What a month July has been, with the monthly stars duplicating the annual stars. We expected 2018 to be dominated by Fire and Earth related issues, and July has indeed been a month of earthquakes, wildfires, volcanic activities, and heatwaves around the world. The monthly stars in August take a little of the pressure off. Take note of how the month’s Feng Shui energies affect the residents of your home as this month’s stars serve as a preview to the annual energies of 2019.
In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the year of the Dog while the numbers in blue refer to August’s monthly stars, with auspicious star 8 in the center.
This month’s negative stars 2 (associated with illness) and 5 (associated with misfortune) are in the Northeast and the Southwest sectors, respectively. Keep these areas of your home quiet and clear the areas of loud colors, especially red as Fire element exacerbates the monthly stars. If you must use these sectors, put Metal objects to subdue the effects. You can learn more about Metal cures here.
The South sector can use more red-color objects to subdue the presence of monthly star 3, associated with arguments and legal issues. Use red sparingly however, especially if you’ve never had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Stay tuned for more insights on the effects of Fire element in Feng Shui.
The month’s most auspicious sectors are those visited by annual stars 8 and 9, which are the center and Northwest. If the center of your home is an open area, use it often for prosperity luck and productivity while spending time in the Northwest sector helps bring inspiration.

A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built.
