Feng Shui Update: April 2019

April 5th takes us into the third month of the year of the Pig. The Earth Dragon month is the last month of spring in the Chinese calendar, a transitional time of the year, with the season’s Wood element giving birth to Fire. In the month’s Feng Shui chart, future prosperity star 9, associated with the Fire trigram, “flies” to the center.

Whereas the elements and signs of the previous two months of spring favored harmony and collaboration, the double Yang Earth elements of April indicate perseverance against all odds, which is usually positive but in certain situations can also bring deep resistance to change. The symbol of Yang Earth is a mountain – a still, looming object that serves as a natural border. It’s up to us whether we see the mountain ahead as a blockage, a detour, or a breakthrough. In Feng Shui, mountains themselves are seen as Dragons. The next time you have a view of a mountain or a mountain range, observe the landform for its likeness to the Dragon. Can you see the head, the body, the arms, the feet, and the tail?
The abundance of Earth element this month will be grounding and centering to those whose charts lack Earth and Metal and calming to those with lots of Fire in their charts, while others with plenty of Earth element in their charts may feel sluggish. If you feel weighed down, keep a mostly plant-based diet of seasonal produce and stay physically active to lighten up from the month’s heavy Earth.
Knowing your own chart enables you to take advantage of what the elements bring to you personally. For example, if your self element / day master is Wood (that is, if you were born on a Wood element day), this is an excellent money making month as Earth is your wealth element and you’d want to put yourself and pitch your craft out there. If your self element is Fire, this is the time to be productive as Earth is your output. If you were born on a Metal day, this is the month to invest in resources and tools that strengthen your skills and gifts. Those born on a Water day may feel overwhelmed with their current situation as Earth conquers Water – breathe deeply and let it pass. This is a highly social month for Earth self elements, but those born on a Yin Earth day should be aware of competitive friends. *Contact me here if you’d like to book a strategic life reading.

In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart for April 2019 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2020), while the numbers in blue refer to April’s monthly stars.
April’s most auspicious sectors are the center, with the monthly star 9 of future prosperity strengthening the annual star 8 of current prosperity, and the Northwest, with the monthly star 1 of wisdom combining with the annual star 9 to form an auspicious sum of ten. Use these sectors of your home or office often to activate the prosperous energy. The center sector together with the South sector also form a highly auspicious “Hotu” combination (annual 8/3 and monthly 9/4) – but note that you can only activate both sectors’ positive energy if your center sector is an open area connected to the South sector, with no wall separating the sectors.
Prosperous monthly star 8 visits the Southeast sector – you can use this sector sparingly for productive tasks, but reinforce all doors and windows as the annual star 7 of robbery is also in the sector. The sectors to keep quiet in April are the North (visited by the monthly star 5 of misfortune), the Southwest (with the annual star 5 of misfortune), and the West (visited by the year’s “Three Killings” and the monthly star 2 of illness).
*Although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to simply avoid using the sector, or keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you’re not familiar with your home’s natal energies as you may accidentally activate a negative natal star. If you do have to spend time in the area, keep your activities there minimal. Common sense also applies – for example, it’s a good idea to have doors and windows reinforced if they’re located in a sector affected by star 7 of robbery.
Contact me here if you’d like to identify and activate the auspicious sectors in your living or office space and subdue the influences of inauspicious stars to help optimize your family’s well-being. I also recommend getting a strategic life reading, which provides you with a blueprint for manifesting your highest potentials.
*If you have had your home Feng Shui’d, consider getting an annual update as annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Feng Shui has nothing to do with having a “consultant” come and “clean” your space with sage, incense, or palo santo sticks. While I love those space-clearing tools, they’re as good as vacuuming and mopping the floor and will not get you to the root of the issue. In fact, it is better to vacuum as the noise and movement activate a positive sector – I highly recommend doing so on the first day of the new solar month! Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies can be enlightening and also frightening as it brings full awareness to your internal environment, which is a major part of our luck and destiny.
