Feng Shui Update: May 2019

May 6 takes us into the month of the Earth Snake, which promises to be the year’s most interesting month, one to proceed with caution and mindfulness. The Snake is the sign opposite the Pig, making this the clash month of the year, an indication of sudden change and volatility. The month’s Feng Shui stars are also a duplicate of the year’s stars, amplifying the energies of the annual stars.

The month of the Snake is the beginning of summer in the Chinese calendar, a season ruled by Fire element, associated with joy, light of the Sun, and the heart. Yang / light is rising and taking over Yin. As we are part of nature and our internal world is a reflection of the external world, this is the time to step it up and be physically more active. Staying in sync with the season is the key to a vibrant mind, body and soul.
Keep your awareness high between May 6 to June 5 as the Snake and its opposite sign the Pig are travel stars. This is an active month full of change and movement! Staying connected to the body and mind is essential as the month will pass by quickly and you’d want to be fully present all the way. If you were born in year or day of the Snake or the Pig, this is not the month to be involved in high-risk activities, but take every challenge as an exciting opportunity for growth.
The month’s strong Yin Earth, associated with Mother Earth, blesses us with her nurturing energy. Make time for self-care before you go out to save the world. Turn to stillness whenever you need to replenish your qi and return to the center. Being properly grounded will give you a solid footing in a world that’s becoming more divided, as the Snake is a Yin Fire sign, which can be emotionally unstable. In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart for May 2019 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the year of the Pig (good until February 3, 2020), while the numbers in blue refer to May’s monthly stars. I love how this month’s stars are the same as the annual stars, with double prosperity star 8 in the center, bringing very strong auspicious energy to the center. Take advantage if your office or home has an open, usable center! Keep it bright and make use of the space to activate the double 8. There are also three special days in May when the daily star 8 also “flies” to the center – making it a triple lucky sector! Take note of these dates: May 13th, 22nd, and 31st.
The Northwest is blessed with double 9 stars of future prosperity, associated with Fire element and joy, a great space for productivity and entertaining. Those whose bedroom or living room is located in the North sector can activate the double 4 stars for social opportunities and romance. The 4 is also an academic star and its presence will benefit those whose study room or office is in the North.
Those who work in the East sector of their home or office can benefit from the month’s double 6 stars of power and authority, but be careful with handling metal objects in the sector as the 6 is a Metal star. Double 1 stars of distant prosperity and wisdom are in the West sector, which is great for meditation and creative projects, however use the sector cautiously in 2019 due to the presence of the Three Killings – keep the noise level low and avoid renovation.
While we benefit from the month’s double lucky stars, caution is much needed for the sectors affected by negative stars as their influences are also strengthened, especially on the dates mentioned above for the Southwest sector (visited by double 5 Yellow of misfortune) and the Northeast (with star 2 of illness). Keep these sectors quiet, avoid them if you can. Reinforce all doors and windows in the Southeast sector, visited by the double 7 star of robbery.
As mentioned previously in my year of the Pig outlook, depending on your home’s specific direction and year built, you may be able to benefit from the auspicious 4/9 (North / NW) and 3/8 (South / Center) combinations, but only if those sectors associated with the stars above are part of an open space, without walls separating the sectors. For example, if your office space encompasses both the North and Northwest sectors of the building, then you’d be blessed with the 4/9 “hotu” combination, which brings positive energy to the occupants.
*Although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to simply avoid using the sector if you can, or keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you’ve never hired a Feng Shui consultant to do a professional assessment and are not familiar with your home’s natal energies, as you may accidentally activate a negative natal star. If you do have to spend time in the area, keep your activities there minimal.

I also recommend getting a strategic life reading, which provides you with a blueprint for manifesting your highest potentials.
***If you have had your home Feng Shui’d, I strongly advise getting an annual update as the annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants for the year. Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies can be enlightening as it brings full awareness to your internal environment, which is a major part of our luck and destiny.
