Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology Update: November 2021

Winter has arrived according to the solar calendar as we enter the month of the Earth Pig on November 7th.  Expect a fast-moving month ahead. In the Feng Shui Flying Star chart, monthly star 5 in its original location in the center indicates the need to stay in your center.

We’re now in the first month of winter in the Chinese solar calendar, a season ruled by Water element, which represents communication, wisdom, and the emotion fear. With fear a dominating theme of the month, keep your vibrations high by staying positive as too much fear and worries may harm the kidney, the organ associated with Water element. The kidney is regarded as the source of vitality in TCM, and the foundation of all yin and yang qualities in the body. Those with healthy kidneys are balanced in the masculine and feminine qualities: active yet calm, courageous but gentle, assertive but also compassionate. Nourish the kidneys by keeping yourself hydrated with water and adding salty flavors from sea salt, miso, tamari, or seaweed into your food (yes, it’s an ideal month for ramen!)
Yin Earth on the heavenly stem of the month highlights environmental issues and self-care. Associated with Mother Earth, Yin Earth invites us to connect to nature and be in harmony with the elements. In this fast-moving month, it’s especially important that we slow down and find time for stillness so that we can replenish our chi and stay grounded. Staying in the center, where chi is strongest and most stable, keeps us calm and steady. We can also see truths more clearly to the left and to the right when we’re in the center. In stillness we’re more able to hear the quiet voice of wisdom.
November always seems to come and go very quickly – such is the dynamic of the Pig month. One of the four travel stars in Chinese Astrology, the Pig is by nature fast-paced and thrives on change and movement. November’s an especially active and busy month for those born in the year or day of the Snake, the Ox, and the Rooster.
Signs that are in harmony with the Pig are secret friend the Tiger and allies the Sheep and the Rabbit. Those with these signs in their birth chart can generally expect a smoother, collaborative month ahead, although keep in mind that the Pig may also clash with other animal signs in the chart. Those born in a year or day with Fire element in the heavenly stem will be blessed with heavenly guidance as the Pig is their nobility star, with support and help available from the universe when needed – a good month for consultations or coaching sessions.
The art of Chinese Metaphysics works with the forces of Heaven, Earth, and the Self. Heaven provides divine guidance through intuition and divine timing, Earth brings us opportunities (which can be further activated by Feng Shui), but what Heaven and Earth gift us will lead to nothing if the Self chooses to do nothing. It is the Self who must take actions and invest in resources such as continuous learning and self-work to manifest their highest potentials.  A full integration of the three aspects of Chinese Metaphysics empowers us to take the most strategic actions at the right time. Knowing your chart helps you see limitless possibilities. For example, if your chart contains one or more of the signs above and Water is also your Wealth element, then you can expect November to be a busy month full of opportunities that you should be prepared to jump on.
The Snake, the sign opposite the Pig, needs to take extra precautions this month, especially when traveling or on the move. Practice higher self-awareness and self-compassion if you have a Pig in your birth chart as the Pig month can trigger the self-punishment penalty, which usually manifests as self-sabotaging behaviors. Recognize when your fears and self-doubts stop you from moving forward.
With the coldness of Yin taking over, it is best to stay warm and keep the inner fire strong as the season’s dominating Water element can contribute to seasonal depression and moodiness. Soak in some sunshine and cook your food to bring in Fire element into the body. Hearty soups and stews are most comforting and grounding to the body during these times.
NOVEMBER 2021 FENG SHUI
In the Flying Star chart for November 2021 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2022), while the numbers in blue refer to November 2021’s monthly stars (good from November 7 to December 6, 2021).
The various meanings associated with the flying star, its trigram, and its element at the center can provide us with divine guidance for the specific period. With star 5, an Earth element star occupying its original position in the center, this is a month to return to our center to reconnect with our inner world for a much needed reset. As the 5 doesn’t relate to any direction or trigram, listen and trust your inner guidance.
This month’s most productive sectors are the Northeast, South, and North sectors. Monthly star 8 of prosperity visits the Northeast to accompany the annual star 9 of future prosperity, while monthly star 9 flies to the South to combine with the annual star 1 of wisdom and distant prosperity, and monthly star 1 flies to the North. Do your work or daily activities in these sectors to activate the auspicious stars. You may also find that you’re more productive and inspired when you’re working in these sectors. Use the North sector sparingly, however, as the annual star 2 of illness still resides in the sector.
The West sector benefits from the presence of the annual star 8 of prosperity, but you will need to reinforce all doors and windows located in the sector as the monthly 7 makes the sector more vulnerable to hostility and fire dangers.
Keep the center of your office or residence clean, tidy, and free of loud noises and bright colors to avoid activating the monthly star 5. The Southeast and Southwest sectors should also be kept as quiet as possible. Take extra precautions when it comes to your health if your bedroom is located in any of these sectors.
The East sector, occupied by the annual star 4 of romance and academic studies, makes for a great study or entertaining space this year. With monthly star 3 of arguments visiting this month, however, try leaving the room for a while if you notice anger or conflict rising. The same applies to the Southwest sector, where the annual star 3 is.

**If you have had a Feng Shui assessment done, consider getting an annual update as the annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies brings full awareness of how your immediate environment can positively influence your life.
