Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology Update: November 2019
Winter arrives early in the Chinese solar calendar. On November 8, we enter the month of the Wood Pig. The darkness of Yin now dominates, with chilly mornings, shorter days, and longer nights. With only three months left in the year of the Pig, November is poised to be a month of turning points.
As one of the four travel stars in Chinese Astrology, the Pig brings a flurry of activity and movement, especially to those born in the year or day of the Snake, Ox, and Rooster. The fast-paced nature of the Pig perhaps explains why November always feels like a quick month. October ends, and suddenly Christmas is around the corner. As 2019 is also the year of the Pig, we’ll be breezing through November even faster than usual. Stay mindful if you’re on the road as many of us will be out and about during the month.
Tread carefully this month, as a Pig month in a Pig year triggers the “self-punishment” penalty. If you have a Pig in your natal chart, be especially aware of old self-limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and self-sabotaging behaviors that may resurface during the month. A daily self-care practice is key to managing your stress level and keeping your health in top shape. No matter how your day goes, schedule some me-time before the day is over to replenish your qi. Tune in to your higher consciousness whenever you feel overwhelmed by fear as Water, the element of winter in the Chinese Five Element system, is also associated with the emotion fear.
Both Yin Wood, the heavenly, higher frequency element of the month, and the Pig’s Yin Water favor diplomacy, flexibility, and peace as compared to previous month’s stubborn doggedness. This is the month to be more spontaneous and go with the flow. When we accept truth as is, we’re more empowered to create our own change.
In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 4, 2020), while the numbers in blue refer to November’s monthly stars.
The East, West, and center sectors are November’s best sectors for daily activities. Auspicious future star 9 of prosperity and inspiration visits the East, already occupied by annual star 6 of power and authority to energize career luck. The West is the most productive sector for study or social activities, visited by monthly star 4 of romance and academic excellence.
The center sector benefits from the lucky sum-of-ten combination, which you can take advantage of if the center of your home or office is an open space. Take note of your health, however, as monthly star 2 in the center can cause gastrointestinal disorders.
The sector to spend as little time as possible in November is the Northeast. Monthly star 5 of misfortune visits the Northeast, already occupied by the annual star 2 of illness. Five and two are a dreaded combination in Feng Shui as both stars together in a sector can bring danger to its occupants. Take care not to activate the combination by keeping the Northeast sector of your home quiet in November.
Although auspicious star 8 of current prosperity is in the Southwest this month, the annual star 5 of misfortune is also in the sector and thus it’s best to keep the Southwest quiet. If you’re self-employed and your home or office faces the Southwest, you may notice a pick up in your finances this month.
Reinforce any windows and doors that are located in the North and Southeast, with monthly star 7 of robbery visiting the North sector and the annual star 7 in the Southeast.
*Although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you’re not familiar with your home’s natal energies as you may accidentally activate a negative star’s natal influences.
Contact us here if you’d like to identify and activate the auspicious sectors in your living or office space and subdue the influences of inauspicious stars to help manifest your highest potentials. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Knowing your home’s natal energies brings full awareness of your internal environment, which is a major part of our luck and destiny. An experienced consultant will identify your home and office’s energetic blue print and give proper recommendations on how to boost the effects of positive stars and lessen the impact of negative stars, but it is up to you whether or not you choose to implement the recommendations. Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our personal growth, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d.
