July 7 takes us into the month of the Fire Sheep, the sixth month of the Water Tiger year and the last month of summer in the Chinese solar calendar. In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart, monthly star 6 of power and authority, associated with the Heaven trigram, flies to the center.
The Sheep welcomes us into the dog days of summer (or shall we call it the goat days of summer?) when Sirius the Celestial Wolf star appears to rise alongside the Sun in Cancer. We’re now in the “Slight Heat” seasonal marker, with Yin starting rise again after being taken over by Yang at summer solstice. Temperature may be at its peak, especially in the last two weeks of July.
All this heat can cause dampness, a condition associated with overly strong Earth element. Keep your body moving to prevent lethargy, congestion, swelling of the joints, and gastrointestinal disorders that can result from dampness and what we put into our body. Eat foods that are Yin / cooling in nature such as cucumber, watermelon, berries, jicama, pear, peppermint, and leafy greens. Metal element foods such as ginger, chili peppers, turmeric, and kimchi help disperse internal heat. Eat simply and lightly to avoid sluggishness.
The strongest of the four Earth signs, the Sheep / the Goat helps us transition from late summer to fall. We may be settling into a quieter rhythm after a social, exuberant month of the Horse in June. The Sheep’s nurturing Yin Earth calls us to slow down and return to the center to harmonize our body, mind and spirit with the elements of the season.
Yin Fire, the month’s heavenly stem, represents joy, inspiration, hope, and an open heart at its highest frequency. On the other hand, the Yin qualities of Fire element are also more unstable and erratic, which can lead to reactive and unpredictable behaviors. Take a deep breath before you react, and focus on activities that make your heart sing to strengthen the Fire within. Mindfulness practices such as Qigong, meditation, and yoga help stabilize the heart-mind.
The signs that are in harmony with the Sheep are secret friend the Horse and allies the Rabbit and the Pig. Those with these signs in their chart can generally expect a more supportive, collaborative month ahead. Those born in the year of the Ox, the sign opposite the Sheep, as well as the Dog and the Dragon, the signs that square the Sheep, would be wise to take extra care of their health and wellbeing, especially if one’s natal chart contains both the Ox and the Dog.
The Sheep month may offer financial opportunities to those born on a Water or Wood day, as Yin Fire in the Heavenly Stem is the wealth element to those born on a Water day, while Yin Earth in the Earthly Branch is the wealth element to Wood day masters.
If you were born in a Yang Earth, Yang Wood, or Yang Metal year or day, the Sheep month is a good time to schedule personal, medical, or professional consultations as the Sheep is your noble people star. *Yang Earth years are years that end with 8, such as 1998, 2008, 2018, and so on; Yang Wood years are years that end with 4, such as 1984, 1994, and so on; Yang Metal years are years that end with 0 such as 2010 and 2020.
JULY 2022 FENG SHUI
In the Flying Star chart for July 2022 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2023), while the numbers in blue refer to July 2022’s monthly stars (good from July 7 to August 6, 2022).
This month, star 6 of power and authority, associated with Yang Metal and the Heaven trigram, “flies” to the center of the monthly Feng Shui Flying Stars chart. The various meanings associated with the ruling trigram of a specific period can provide us with messages and guidance to issues that may arise during the particular period, just like the five elements can provide insights for what lies ahead.
The Heaven trigram represents the creative force, the Father, and the fair leader. The three solid Yang lines in the trigram depict the ultimate Yang: pure light in the sky originating from Heaven, indicating that major changes and events are the works of heavenly forces. This is a month to listen to the spirit within and go deeper into the language of the stars.
The Northeast sector, 2022’s luckiest sector, is even more vibrant this month with monthly star 9 of joy and future prosperity strengthening the annual star 8 of prosperity. Other positive sectors are the South sector, blessed by monthly star 1 of wisdom, and the West sector, visited by monthly star 8 of prosperity. Do most of your daily activities here to take advantage of the auspicious energies.
The East sector, with monthly star 4 of romance and academic excellence, is ideal for social gatherings, studies, reading, and writing, but with the annual star 3 of arguments also in the sector, be conscious of the state of your heart and leave the room temporarily if you feel anger rising.
The sectors afflicted by the annual or monthly star 5 of misfortune and star 2 of illness should ideally be kept quiet, but if you can’t avoid them, use them mindfully – no loud noises or banging the doors. In July, these sectors are the center, the Southeast, the Southwest, and the North.
Reinforce all doors and windows located in the Northwest sector, visited by monthly 7 of fire dangers, violence, and robberies, and the West sector, where the annual 7 is.
*Although there may be remedies to lessen a sector’s negative energy, the best solution is to simply avoid using the sector, or keep the area as quiet as possible and respect whatever energy is visiting there, especially if you’re not familiar with your home’s natal energies as you may accidentally activate a negative natal star. If you do have to spend time in the area, keep your activities there minimal. Common sense also applies: for example, it’s a good idea to have doors and windows reinforced if they’re located in a sector affected by star 7 of robbery.

I also recommend getting a strategic life reading, which provides you with a blueprint for manifesting your highest potentials.
**If you have had a Feng Shui assessment done, consider getting an annual update as the annual stars are strong in influence and can highly affect the well-being of the home’s occupants. A proper Feng Shui analysis always takes into account the floor plan of a home, its location, direction, external and internal environment, and the year the home was built, as well as its affinity with the residents’ natal charts.
Just like we spend time on self-care as part of our life’s self-work, there is major “home” work involved once you’ve had your home professionally Feng Shui’d. Knowing your home’s natal energies brings full awareness of how your immediate environment can positively influence your life.
