Happy Lunar New Year of the Tiger!

The lunar new year of the Water Tiger begins on January 31st or February 1st, 2022, depending on where you are, with the arrival of the New Moon in Aquarius.
Read on below for a general forecast to the year of the Water Tiger, according to the animal signs that are in the Year and Month pillars of your natal chart. The Month pillar is written according to your Western Astrology sun signs. If you’d like to review how the prevailing elements of the Tiger year will affect the environment and the world at large, check out my 2022: Year of the Water Tiger for a deeper dive.
Tiger
Change is the theme of the year for those born in a Tiger year (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010). Blessed with support from Grand Duke Jupiter, the Tiger is in for the most unforgettable year ahead. The year one encounters the animal sign of their birth is usually a life-changing time, and it usually coincides with Jupiter return in one’s natal chart (though not always, especially if you were born in the early or later part of the Tiger year as Jupiter has a not so exact twelve-year cycle). With Jupiter speeding through Pisces between now to May 10, the Tiger must use their quick instinct when deciding which opportunities to take. There’s no time to overanalyze – trust your first response – listen to how your body, your heart, and your gut react. As a travel star and a Yang Wood sign associated with growth, the Tiger naturally thrives on change. Those who may be more timid may finally find the courage to drop their fears and go for it. This is the year to break your own barriers. Since the fast-paced Tiger is always aware of its environment, get into the spirit of the Tiger: always keep a high awareness of your own movement and others, and you will emerge a winner.
If you were born in a Tiger month (February 4 – March 5, give or take a day or two), your Western astrology Sun sign should be somewhere between 15° Aquarius – 15° Pisces. Those born in the first half of Tiger month had Jupiter visit their Sun in 2021, blessing them with a positive mindset and new opportunities. It’s now a time to apply those lessons learned from those opportunities, with Saturn going through the same degrees in the year of the Tiger. Those born in the second half of the Tiger month may be given the opportunities to manifest their dreams with Jupiter speeding through Pisces in the beginning of the year, but they must act quickly. Uranus may throw curveballs to some of you now and then, but the Tiger is a sign that loves excitement. Cultivating a positive mindset will take you further on your path.
Rabbit
If you were born in a year of the Rabbit (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011), you’re blessed with auspicious stars in the year of the Tiger. As the star of romance (Peach Blossom) to the Tiger, your love life will sweeten in 2022 – a great year for those who are single and looking to socialize more. The Rabbit will also enjoy more recognition from their social and professional circles. With star 3 of argument occupying the East sector where the Rabbit is in the Feng Shui Flying Stars chart, however, be mindful with your words to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Speak from a place of love.
Those born in the month of the Rabbit (March 6 – April 4) will have their Western astrology Sun sign between 15° Pisces to 15° Aries. Jupiter going through those degrees through 2022 helps bring a growth mindset and positive thinking. Make this the year to manifest your dreams and expand what’s possible. Neptune is also still an influence to those born in the first half of the month, which could be highly inspirational if you’re in the creative fields but can also make it hard to discern facts from fiction. Recognize when you’re using too many filters in your visions and thoughts. Those born in the second half of the Rabbit month have the support of Chiron, making 2022 a year to focus on the healing journey.
Dragon
If you were born in a year of the Dragon (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012), your square / half clash with the Ox in 2021 has made you grown wiser in the past year. As a fellow Earth sign, the Ox brought pressure and feelings of heaviness to the Dragon. Your newfound wisdom has transformed your perspective and mindset for the better, which will help you experience a much better 2022. You may still have a heavy workload in the year of the Tiger, but you’ve learned to manage your energy and delegate. With star 4 of romance and studies visiting the sector where the Dragon resides in the annual Feng Shui Flying Stars chart, the Dragon will also be in the mood to socialize and invest in themselves by learning new skills and knowledge.
Those born in the month of the Dragon (April 5 – May 5) will have their Western astrology Sun sign somewhere between 15° Aries to 15° Taurus. Saturn finally bestows his rewards for jobs well done to those born in the first half of the month after a year of hard work. Accept them graciously – you deserve it! Those born in the second half of the month have the support of Jupiter in Pisces to help them grow and expand in the beginning of the year. Take advantage of Jupiter’s presence by starting the year strong. Uranus in Taurus also helps facilitate change – be quick and responsive in your approach.
Snake
Those born in a Snake year (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013) had the support of ally the Ox (similar to a trine) in 2021. Expect 2022 to be much more dynamic and exciting! There will be challenges from the Tiger as both signs square each other, but the Snake as a travel star thrives on change and excitement and the year of the Tiger will definitely provide exactly that. This is not the year to sit around, and situations will compel you to move fast. Just remember to be mindful and keep a high awareness of your environment at all times.
Those born in the month of the Snake (May 5 – June 4) will have their Western astrology Sun sign between 15° Taurus to 15° Gemini. If you were born in the first half of the month, Neptune, Pluto, and/or Uranus have brought you inspiration and positive changes in the past few years, but this year Saturn will challenge you to rise up to your potentials. Tackle those challenges with confidence as Saturn also rewards those who put in the work. Jupiter going through mid to late Pisces from March to May 10 brings opportunities, but you must act fast. Those born in the second half of the month enjoyed support from Saturn in 2021, and growth is waiting for you in mid 2022, with Jupiter in a sextile to your Sun between May – October. Focus on expanding what you started last year.
Horse
If you were born in the year of the Horse (1942, 1954,1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014), you will greatly benefit from the support of the Tiger in 2022. As an ally of the Tiger in Chinese Astrology, the Horse can expect a more harmonious year in 2022, similar to a trine (provided all the other signs in your natal chart do not clash with the Tiger or with each other). With the annual star 9 of joy and inspiration in the South palace (where the Horse is located in the Feng Shui Flying Stars chart), it’s critical that you cultivate inner joy and a growth mindset to take you further in your path as the 9 can amplify your inner state – so make it positive!
Those born in the month of the Horse (June 5 – July 6) will have their Western astrology Sun sign somewhere between 15° Gemini to 15° Cancer. Those born in the first half of the month can expect to receive blessings from Saturn in the form of rewards and recognition for their hard work, though remember to practice self-care as Jupiter in Pisces can overwhelm you while Neptune can cloud your vision now and then. Those born in the second half of the month get to experience two different sides of Jupiter: with Jupiter in Pisces starting the year bringing blessings and Jupiter in Aries bringing too much of a good thing. Know your own limits and recognize when you’re overdoing things.
Sheep
Those born in the year of the Sheep  / the Goat / the Ram (1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015) can finally breathe a sigh of relief in the year of the Tiger. 2021 was a heavy year for the Sheep as the sign opposite the Ox. The pressure and worries will ease soon and the Sheep will finally be able to focus on what they started or rebuild what they may have given up in 2021. With star 2 of illness visiting the sector where the Sheep resides in the annual Feng Shui Flying Stars chart, however, be mindful of your energy level and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
If you were born in a Goat month (July 7 – August 6), your Western astrology Sun sign will be somewhere between 15° Cancer – 15° Leo. All of you will experience growth in 2022 thanks to Jupiter’s support to your Sun sign. The planet of expansion will also help you think more positively, while Neptune helps you see more possibilities. Some of you whose Sun is in late Cancer are experiencing the biggest life transformation with Pluto opposing their Sun – hang in there, you will look back one day in the future and be amazed at how far you’ve come. Those born in the second half of the month will finally be free from Saturn’s restrictions – look back at the past year and reflect on lessons learned.
Monkey
If you were born in the year of the Monkey (1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016), you are opposing / confronting the Grand Duke Jupiter, and most of those born in a Monkey year will indeed have transiting Jupiter in Pisces opposing their natal Jupiter in Virgo (unless you were born in the beginning or the end of the Monkey year, in which case you may have your natal Jupiter in Leo or Libra, the previous or the next sign.) It’s a year of big changes whenever the animal sign of your birth year opposes the Grand Duke – initiate those changes yourself instead of fighting them, and you will emerge victorious. If you’ve been considering changing your job, your place of residence, or your status (for example, through marriage or divorce or pregnancy), this is the year to do it as change is the theme of the year for you, it is inevitable. The Monkey as a Yang Metal sign has the power to steer their life in the Tiger year (since Metal cuts Wood in the Chinese Five Elements theory) – so take control of your situations. You will be busy! Know when to slow down if you’re going too fast, however, and be mindful on the road since both the Monkey and the Tiger are travel stars.
Those born in the month of the Monkey (August 7 – September 7, give or take a day or two) will have their Western astrology Sun sign somewhere between 15° Leo to 15° Virgo. Those who were born in the first half of the month already had Jupiter oppose their Sun in 2021 and will have to deal with Saturn opposing their Sun in 2022 – expect last year’s expansion to result in more duties and responsibilities this year. Take any restrictions imposed upon you with grace and work with them as they will teach you to be more resourceful and creative. Those who were born in the second half of the month will have Jupiter oppose their Sun in the beginning of the Tiger year, and some of them may have experienced the opposition since Jupiter moves very quickly through 15° Pisces from the very end of 2021 to March 5, 2022. Take care not to overcommit yourself in these highly exuberant times and learn to prioritize.
Rooster
The Rooster (the Bird) has benefited greatly in the past year from being an ally of the Ox, and the good fortune will still be coming in strong in the year of the Tiger. If you were born in the year of the Rooster (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017), 2022 is a year to continue your momentum, with so many auspicious stars blessing your sign. As your influence increases, be more discerning with your spending and in choosing financial opportunities, as star 7 visits the West sector, the Rooster’s location, in the annual FengShui chart, especially in June, August, and October. Star 7 is also a star of communication – a good year to speak more.
Those born in the month of the Rooster (September 7 – October 7) will have their Western astrology Sun sign between 15° Virgo to 15° Libra. With Jupiter going through those degrees from March onward in Pisces and Aries, the signs opposite your Sun, you may feel overwhelmed with your duties and obligations. Prioritize and know your limits. If you were born in the first half of the Rooster month, you’ve also been dealing with Neptune opposing your Sun, which may bring confusion and brain fog at times. As a Yin Metal sign, channel the Neptune energy into making your environment beautiful.
Dog
If you were born in the year of the Dog (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018), you can take a breath of relief in 2022 as you’re no longer in a side clash / squaring with the Ox. The Tiger as an ally of the Dog (similar to a trine) in Chinese Astrology brings support and harmony.  In the Feng Shui annual chart, heavenly star 6 of victory and power visits its home sector in the NW where the Dog resides – a great year for new beginnings and learning new skills or knowledge from mentors or coaches. Be mindful of your energy level, however, as the Tiger, a Wood Sign, can wear you out easily. Practice self-care and make time for R&R to replenish your spirit and energy.
Those born in the month of the Dog (October 8 to November 6) will have their Western astrology Sun sign somewhere between 15° Libra to 15° Scorpio. Those born in the first half of the month will finally gain recognition and reward from their hard work over the past year, with Saturn in Aquarius offering solid support for a job well done. Those born in the second half of the month will enjoy Jupiter’s blessings, though Uranus in Taurus opposing their Sun will make life unpredictable. Be open to change, as challenging as it is for the Dog as a Yang Earth sign, for Jupiter’s presence in Pisces can help ease any discomfort. Learn to trust your gut feeling instead of overthinking your situations.
Pig
If you were born in the year of the Pig / the Boar (1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019), you’re blessed with one of the best years ever in the year of the Tiger in 2022. As the Tiger’s bestie, those born in the year of the Pig enjoy plenty of support from their friends and professional networks. This is a year of adventures, travels, and expansion for the Pig – and as a travel star, the Pig’s a sign that doesn’t overthink about stepping outside of the comfort zone. Since both the Tiger and the Pig are fast-paced, travel stars that also square each other, the bff relationship is a complicated one – smooth one day, challenging the next, but never boring, with an inherent trust in each other. Remember to slow down every so often so you can catch up with yourself, and keep a high awareness of your surroundings, especially in the months of the Snake (May 5 – June 4) and the Monkey ((Aug 7 – Sep 7).
If you were born in the month of the Pig (November 7 – December 6), your Western astrology Sun sign will be between 15° Scorpio and 15° Sagittarius. Those born in the first half of the month will have Saturn in Aquarius challenging your Sun sign, indicating a time of hard work. Rewards may not come immediately, but stay committed to your purpose. Uranus in Taurus may force you to make changes, but the Pig is a sign that thrives on change – flow with it. If you were born in the second half of the month, you may find yourself busier than ever at the start of the year with Jupiter squaring your Sun. Prioritize and take care of your health. The pressure eases quickly and after May you will be enjoying more of what life has to offer with Jupiter in Aries.
Rat
Those born in the year of the Rat (1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008) had the full support of the Ox in 2021, easing what’s been a difficult year for many. In 2022, the Tiger will mostly leave the Rat alone, giving the Rat a chance to create their own stories. With star 1 of victory and wisdom visiting the North sector where the Rat resides in the Feng Shui chart, trust that things will work out for the best despite challenges and difficulties.
Those born in the month of the Rat (December 7 – January 4) will have your Western astrology Sun sign between 15° Sagittarius to 15° Capricorn. If you were born in the first half of the month, Saturn will finally bring rewards for work well done and opportunities to move forward with your dreams.  There may be too much work at the start of the year, with Jupiter going through 15 – 30° of Pisces in the months of the Rabbit and Dragon (March through May 10) – give yourself time for R&R when life gets too overwhelming. Those born in the second half of the month will need to prioritize and maintain healthy boundaries when Jupiter is in Aries from May 10 through October, especially with Chiron bringing challenges to your healing journey now and then.
Ox
The Ox has been getting plenty of spotlight in the past year as the sign blessed by the Grand Duke Jupiter. 2021 has been a transformative, life-changing year for those born in the year of the Ox (1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009). 2022 is a year to continue the momentum gained in 2021 – big changes initiated by the Ox in 2021 will lead to even more growth and support from their mentors and networks in the year of the Tiger! The Ox will enjoy doing the work so much that they must remember to practice self-care and rest to replenish their energy.
Those born in the month of the Ox (January 5 to February 3) will have their Western astrology Sun signs somewhere between 15° Capricorn to 15° Aquarius. Neptune in Pisces have helped those born in the first half of the month with creative visions and inspiration, although Pluto in Capricorn may have forced some of them to change their ways. Neptune and Pluto’s influences will continue in 2022. Those born in the second half of the month had learned extensive lessons from Saturn in 2021. Though pressures from Saturn will finally ease in the year of the Tiger, Uranus in Taurus may throw some of you off-guard. Embrace change and trust your gut instinct instead of giving energy to your fears and judgment.
